Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that he is urging all parties involved in the conflict to observe a two week ceasefire so diplomacy could go ahead.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said he is requesting that US President Donald Trump extend the Iran deadline by two weeks.

UN human rights chief Volker Turk has condemned “the tirade of incendiary rhetoric being used in the Middle East war over the last couple of weeks by all parties, including the latest threats to annihilate a whole civilisation and to target civilian infrastructure”.

“This is sickening. Carrying through on such threats amounts to the most serious international crimes,” Turk said in a statement, calling for an end to the spread of “fear and terror among civilians”.

“Under international law, deliberately attacking civilians and civilian infrastructure is a war crime. Anyone responsible for international crimes must be held to account by a competent court,” he said.

The Israeli military has said that it has carried out a strike targeting Iran’s main production site for its sonar and underwater detection systems.

It claimed yesterday’s attack on the southwestern city of Shiraz “significantly impairs” the Iranian government’s maritime detection and defence capabilities, as well as its ability “to produce and maintain submarines and naval electronic systems”.

Iran is prepared for all possibilities in its war with the United States and Israel, First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref said, following threats from US President Donald Trump.

« National security and infrastructure sustainability are the subject of our precise calculations. The government has finalised the necessary measures in detail for all scenarios. No threat is beyond our preparedness and intelligence, » Aref said in a post on X.

The operator of Bahrain’s main port – Khalifa Bin Salman Port – says it will pause operations early tomorrow morning, around the time Trump has threatened to launch broad attacks on Iranian infrastructure if Tehran does not agree to a deal.

“Operations in Khalifa Bin Salman Port will be temporarily suspended from early April 8. We continuously adapt our operations to the circumstances and have, as a result, temporarily paused operations in recent weeks when needed,” APM Terminals Bahrain, which operates the port, told the AFP news agency.

The world’s most important price for real-world oil barrels soared to its highest level on record, the latest sign that global crude markets are pricing increasingly scarce supply as a result of the disruption from the Iran war.

Pope Leo XIV said Tuesday that President Donald Trump’s threat to destroy Iranian civilization was « truly unacceptable » and said any attacks on civilian infrastructure violate international law.

In some of his strongest comments yet against the war, Leo urged Americans and other people of good will to contact their political leaders and congressional representatives to demand they reject war and work for peace.

The UN has just announced that it is sending the Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy Jean Arnault to the region to bolster diplomatic efforts.

A French diplomat with a career spanning four decades, Arnault leads the UN’s efforts on the war and its consequences.

The UN has urged for an immediate switch to dialogue, and Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed concern over Trump’s latest threats.

“(Guterres) is deeply troubled by statements suggesting that entire civilian populations or civilisations may be made to bear the consequences of political and military decisions,” spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said.

Guterres emphasised that no military goal justifies the “deliberate infliction of suffering on civilians” or the ruining of a nation’s infrastructure.

Iranian hacking campaigns targeting equipment used across multiple U.S. critical infrastructure sectors are escalating in response to hostilities, U.S. cybersecurity, law enforcement and intelligence agencies said on Tuesday.

The hackers are targeting publicly exposed programmable logic controllers and supervisory control and data acquisition displays, according to the advisory. The targeted devices are used to interact with or control certain critical infrastructure-related equipment and systems, the advisory said.

The hackers are seeking to cause “disruptive effects within the United States,” according to the advisory. “In a few cases, this activity has resulted in operational disruption and financial loss. »

Kuwait’s Interior Ministry has asked people in the country to stay home between 12am and 6am local time as a “precautionary measure”.

Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat, it said in a statement.
